Safety and Health professional coordinating all safety and health related activities for a specific region (up to 40 stores) Commercial Tire business, including promoting and supporting Line-Driven Safety processes to help achieve the stores/shops/retread facilities safety and business objectives. This also includes managing all Safety related aspects of Commercial Tire which relates to: OSHA/MSHA compliance, Safety Training, Meetings, fleet management and TIA Certification.
This is a regional role based in the Pacific Northwest. Candidates must either live or be willing to relocate within the following market areas: Northern California, Washington, Oregon, West Montana and the Reno, Nevada area.
Assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety management system. This includes being a contributing resource to the Zone Safety Manager and the line organization, education on the system, audit of the LDS IIP’s to ensure the stores are doing them, assist and audit to ensure quarterly reviews are held with all required management people, ensure the quarterly update report is completed and turned in to Nashville as required.
Work to develop Safety Committees at the stores to enhance employee involvement.
Assist the Store management in the directions and coordination of all safety and health related activities for the location to prevent occupational injury/illness related losses and minimize future liabilities by evaluating risks and establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities.
To assist store management in achieving their safety and business objectives.
Audit and give feedback to management with regards to safety being tied into overall performance.
Educate local teammates on required safety training for the location to be able to do their own safety education
Follow up with the location on workers' compensation claims process by establishing a thorough and aggressive system to closely manage and monitor claims while working with Corporate Risk Management
Assist the location and Zone/Corporate Safety and IH on all industrial hygiene activities including medical surveillance, air monitoring, noise, hazard communication, laser, ventilation, radiation, chemical approval, etc.
Educates and follows up with the locations concerning the fire prevention programs including routine inspections/testing and issuance of hot work permits- – liaises with the property insurance carrier and local fire authorities when necessary
Helps coordinate the ergonomics program including risk identification and countermeasures
Assist Market, Region, Zone Managers in ensuring quarterly, semiannual and annual reviews and reporting is completed
Work with stores and corporate safety to address on government interactions including compliance and consultative services
Applicant must live in any of the states that have a location in that Market
Typically travel 75% of the time

Thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and local government regulations related to health, safety and industrial hygiene
Working knowledge of chemistry and toxicology as it relates to health and safety concerns

MS Safety Management
