Murraysmith is currently seeking a mid-level Transportation Civil Engineer to be located at our Spokane, Washington office. Job Description:

You will work with a talented group of professionals in an open and friendly work environment, where personal and professional growth is supported and hard work is rewarded. The position is responsible for planning, design, and construction support for municipal transportation projects. Transportation improvement projects include roadway design, geometric design, drainage analysis, and utility design for city, county, and state agencies. You will enjoy a wide variety of interesting assignments, including:

  • Working with multidisciplinary technical teams; leading and managing small teams.

  • Managing work programs, project schedules, and budgets.

  • Coordinating with clients.

  • Writing technical memorandums, engineering reports, and planning studies.

  • Supporting business development (proposal and SOQ writing).


  • BS in Civil Engineering (BSCE)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • 7-15 years relevant civil engineering experience

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience on multi-disciplinary projects including management of subconsultants

  • Prior consulting experience managing municipal (state, county, city) projects

  • Design and construction management experience with transportation projects

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Client contacts and experience working in the Portland, OR metro area and/or the greater Pacific Northwest region

  • Interest in mentoring junior staff

  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and MS Project

  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and MicroStation/InRoads a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with multiple priorities

  • Attention to detail, delivering quality work products and excellent client service
