U.S. Bank U.S. Bank Strategic Capital Management Manager in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
The Strategic Capital Management Manager will work across U.S. Bank’s senior finance leadership team, working closely with Management Committee members, Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development and internal business segment leaders to valuate key growth or investment opportunities. This role is critical in contributing to our organic and inorganic business growth and has significant impact on the business's ability to implement products, platforms, and programs that drive future performance.
The Leader of Strategic Capital Management is responsible for supporting the development of the bank's strategic goals, evaluating existing plans and participating in major corporate initiatives to drive growth across the organization. This role will lead and/or participate in strategic planning, analysis and the development of capital and investment roadmaps related to business initiatives, innovation and technology investments that align with the company’s strategic plan and enable the Management Committee to prioritize initiatives within the capital planning process.
This leader will work side-by-side with the senior leaders and have a very visible role within the company. As a result, they will need possess a high level of intellectual curiosity and executive presence that gains them immediate credibility. This person will be able to convey complex materials to senior executives with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
A veteran in the world of strategy and consulting, the ideal candidate possesses deep familiarity and hands-on experience within financial services. This leader will be responsible for driving and delivering detailed work on key corporate level strategic issues that will include both assessments of new opportunities for the corporation and the evaluation of current businesses.
Job Requirements
Develop critical strategic analysis to support decisions for the bank on organic and inorganic initiatives
Support the development of the company's strategy via proactive market scans and periodic business / market reviews
Build relationships driving strong business partnerships to help create a new strategic process that differentiates and aligns capital investment with strategic priorities and that facilitates longer-term capital investment planning.
Support and coordinate the strategic capital investment planning process for the Corporation - including comprehensive assessment, analysis, and evaluation of business initiatives
Develop working models/tools to support long-range capital and investment roadmaps as well as assign economic value to strategic initiatives
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the bank's businesses, competitors, and operating environment
Assist in the development of comprehensive presentation material for senior management and the Board
Ad hoc strategic analysis as necessary
We would consider candidates based outside of Minneapolis if in one of U.S. Bank's major markets. If based outside of Minneapolis more travel would be required.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
10 or more years of experience in financial analysis activities
Preferred Skills/Experience
Extensive knowledge of financial analysis concepts and methodologies
Expert knowledge of accounting theory practice, regulatory requirements and reporting
Excellent financial analysis, forecasting and planning skills
MBA, CPA or CFA preferred
Demonstrated track record of experience in the following business skills:
Leading high-profile, cross-functional strategic initiatives, from both a process management and thought leadership perspective
Solving complex business problems using a multi-disciplined, analytical and fact-based approach. High level of intellectual curiosity and persistence; sound business judgment; strong analytical skills; fact-based and pragmatic approach; high level of intellectual and ethical courage

Prior experience with large banks or non-bank financial institutions is preferred
Must have a high degree of numeracy and comfort with strategic and financial analysis
Strong work ethic, intellectual honesty and curiosity
Proven interpersonal and consultative communication skills with well-developed presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, develop, lead, and execute assignments
Comfortable with ambiguity – inserting clarity and defining during the build.
